SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Dayton girls basketball winning streak came to an end Friday in a 47-40 overtime loss to Hoboken, a North Jersey, Section 2 Group 1 rival.  Dayton is now 11-2.

The Bulldogs were led by sophomore forward Sayre Brandstatter’s 15 points.  She made three three point shots and six free throws.  She also pulled down four rebounds. 

Junior guards Amanda Lau and Melanie Schickler each added ten points.  Lau pulled down five rebounds and made two assists, while Schicker pulled down four rebounds, made three assists and four steals.

Junior forward Nicolette Angelo scored two points and pulled down 11 rebounds.  Sophomore forward Caitlynn McTernan added three points and one rebound.  Junior guard Zoe Frei pulled down three rebounds.

Hoboken was led by Nyasia Mixson with 18 points. 

The Bulldogs led 18-16 at the end of the first half and 31-27 at the end of the third quarter. 

The next game is a division game at 4 p.m. against the Vikings of Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains.  Dayton comes back home Thursday for 5:30 p.m. against St. Mary’s High School.  Then on Saturday, they play a 10 a.m. away game at Oak Knoll School.
