SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In the latest update from Springfield Mayor Chris Capodice, it was announced that Springfield had just one new confirmed case of COVID-19. As of now, the cumulative total in Springfield is 278 positive tests and 22 deaths.

Overall, Union County had 44 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths totaling 17,641 positive tests and 1,191 deaths. The State of New Jersey had 2,470 new cases of COVID-19 and 24 new deaths for a total of 203,458 positive tests and 14,315 COVID-19 related deaths.

Capodice also released the latest hospitalization numbers from around the state.

Latest Hospitalization Numbers

  • 421 patients are hospitalized 
  • 91 patients are in critical care
  • 39 patients are on ventilators
  • 28 patients were discharged

"Our continued vigilance is critical to ensure we do not have an influx of infected persons," Capodice said. "Masks are still a vital part of our daily routine. Springfield is only as strong as those who listen. We are all impacted when residents don’t follow the rules."
