SPRINGFIELD, NJ - With the 2019 general election on the way, the Union County Board of Elections has announced that new voting machines will debut in Springfield for the Nov. 5 General Election.
In order to bring Springfield residents up to date on the new machines, The Union County Board of Elections will be available to train voters on the new machines on the following dates and locations:
- Tuesday, Sept. 17 - Springfield Municipal Building 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This coincides with the second September meeting of the Springfield Township Committee.
- Sunday, Oct. 6 - Fall Festival, Patriot Park, Wabeno Avenue 11:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 15 - Springfield Library Meeting Room 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The new machines are equipped with a variety of voter transparency measures, including a visible backup paper ballot, which can be used in the event of a recount.
