SPRINGFIELD, NJ — At last Tuesday's Springfield Township Committee meeting, the committee approved the promotion of two officers, and the hiring of one.

Jacqueline Alves and Anthony Kassis both successfully completed a year as a seventh class patrol officers in the department. On the recommendation of Chief John Cook, Alves and Kassis were both rpomoted to sixth class patrol officers.

Additionally, the department needed a new hire to fill a vacancy left by a retirement. Cook recommended the measure to the township. The committee approved the hiring of probationary police officer Matthew Safir. Safir will spend the next year in a probationary role before advancing up the chin of promotion.
