Springfield’s Dayton Coed Bowling Team Finishes Eighth in Group 1 NJSIAA Tournament of Champions

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The NJSIAA Tournament of Champions was held Friday at Bowlero Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick.  Forty teams qualified for the Tournament of Champions with ten teams coming from each group.  Dayton competed in Group 1 and finished eighth with a combined score of 2.678 or over 178 a game from each of the five bowlers. 

The Jonathan Dayton bowling team had a very successful season.  They were undefeated with a 13-0 record, finished second in their sectional tournament and thus, qualified for the state tournament – the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions.  Junior Evan Weinberg competed in the state’s Individual Boys Tournament Wednesday and finished fourth out of the bowlers the qualified. 

Coach Felix Fabiano has three of the six bowlers returning next year.   The seniors on the team are Captain Jon Pannullo, Skyla Johnson and Matthew Silva.  The juniors are Scott Maran, Sean Martin and Evan Weinberg. 

The NJSIAA Tournament of Champions was won by the Group 1 winner East Brunswick with a 3-1 victory over the Group 4 winner Manasquan.
