Chesapeake Bay, MD - This January Ryan Fitzpatrick will take on the frigid waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Plunge for the 7,549 athletes of Special Olympics Maryland.

He is a graduate of Jonathan Dayton High School and his younger sister Karly graduated last year.  He is now a senior at Towson University in his final semester and is a Business Administration major, with a concentration in Marketing.

On Saturday January 27, Ryan will be with many others for the Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park.  The organizers think it will be “…a chilly day to be freezin' for a reason!”

Ryan said the Polar Bear Plunge is “…an amazing cause. I have participated in it for five years when I did my first plunge during my senior year of high school.  It gets more enjoyable each and every time.”  His Uncle Dennis got Ryan started when “…he brought me to a plunge joining his team years ago in Seaside, NJ.”

HeRyan says the Plunge “…has shown me what a difference so many people can make by coming together, raising money, supporting a cause and most importantly loving every second of doing so. I tell all of my friends and family about this event and encourage others to donate and participate every year. There is no better feeling knowing you are making someone’s dream come true by giving your own support in any way possible, even if it is jumping into frigid cold water.”

If you want to help Ryan help this group of Special Olympians even more your donation will not only encourage him to plunge into the 34-degree Chesapeake Bay, it will also allow Special Olympics Maryland to continue to offer sports competition and training to athletes around the state at no cost.

Ryan Fitzpatrick encourages you to help create “…a world where opportunity is not limited by disability and make a donation by clicking the link below.”

Dear Editor:

I read with interest in a local newspaper regarding the Union county democrat party political infighting for their “county chair” selection. There were 2 letters juxtaposed, each one listing supporters of either Senator Scutari or Fanwood Mayor Mahr, who are the two main people vying for the “boss” position.

Although I am a ...
