RARITAN TWP., N.J. — Team Velvet recently welcomed tow new board members, Kathy Piparo, Ph.D. and Chery Swanson, RN joined the board of the 501-(c)-3 organization providing pediatric nonmounted horse therapy for children with adjustment and trauma.
Dr. Piparo is a long-term resident of Hunterdon County and most people recognize her from her 4-H equine leadership, biochemistry research and Adjunct Associate Professor of Biology position at Raritan Community College.
Swanson is a licensed nurse with a 20-year background in both clinical and administrative nursing serving Hunterdon and Somerset Counties and patients from all ages across the lifespan continuum.
“Both individuals bring to our board a treasure of competence, compassion for children and creativity,” said Dr. Edwards. “We are so appreciative.”
Team Velvet Inc. is funded, in part, by four foundations: The American Counseling Association Foundation, The Large Foundation, The Northfield Bank Foundation and The Robert McEldowney Jr. Family Foundation. Additional funding is provided by local businesses, service organizations and individual contributors in the greater Delaware Valley area.
A fundraiser is scheduled for May 6 at the farm on Old Clinton Road from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
