Tennis: Dayton Beats Johnson 4-1 and is 5-3 for Season

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Jonathan Dayton Bulldogs boys tennis team beat A.L. Johnson High School 4-1 Tuesday.  The Bulldogs record is now 5-3. 

For Dayton, all three singles players won their matches and the first doubles team won its match.

Senior Colin McCormack won 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 on court one over Johnson’s Matthew Gallo.  McCormack pulled ahead in the tie breaker and carried that momentum through the second set.  He is 3-5 on court one.

Senior Josh Damast plays singles two for Dayton.  He beat Johnson’s Matt Vigliotti 6-0, 6-1 and is 6-2 on the year.  Playing singles three for the Bulldogs is senior Jared Horowitz and he beat Johnson’s Logan Guarino 6-3, 6-1.  Horowitz is 5-3 in 2017.

Junior Adam Gelo and freshman Matthew Mlawski played the first doubles court and won their match.

Union High School visits Dayton today Wednesday and Elizabeth is scheduled to play at Dayton Thursday.
