This Week in Springfield Township: July 3 to July 9

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – This is July 4th week and features Springfield’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration at Meisel Avenue Park.  Gates open at 5 p.m. and the band 1910 Fruitgum Co. takes the stage at 8:00 p.m.  Fireworks follow the show.  The Township schedule shows a Planning Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.

The Springfield Free Public Library is closed July 4 and otherwise offers a full slate of events thru Saturday.  On Monday at 1 p.m. the movie Hidden Figures will be shown.  The movie was nominated for three academy awards including Best Motion Picture.  IMDb describes it as “…a story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

On Thursday, the library will show A Man Called Ove as part of its Summer International Film Festival. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards.    There is a lot more going on at Library.
