Try Riding Western-Style at Lord Stirling Stable, Sunday, July 8

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Somerset County Park Commission Lord Stirling Stable, 256 South Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge, NJ, is offering an Introductory Western-style horseback ride on Sunday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Registration is available online at www.somersetcountyparks.org and at the Stable office through Thursday, July 5. The office is open for transactions between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. Space is limited.

Participants will enjoy a brief group lesson with one of Lord Stirling Stable’s riding instructors followed by a one-hour guided trail ride through Lord Stirling Park.

The Ride offers individuals the opportunity to experience a trail ride without making any further commitment to the sport. It is also a great “refresher” for those who have not ridden in a long time. The ride will take place rain or shine unless heavy downpour or hazardous weather conditions result in cancellation.

Youth and adults who weigh less than 200 lbs., are at least 9 years of age, and are at least 5’ tall are eligible to participate.  Riders between 9 and 18 years old must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. Participants 9-11 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the ride.  An approved equestrian helmet and shoes or boots with hard, smooth soles and a definite heel are required and may be borrowed from the Stable for the ride.

The fee for the ride is $40 for Somerset County residents and $50.00 for out of county residents.  Preregistration is required with payment made by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover at the time of registration.

Lord Stirling Stable is located within Lord Stirling Park in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, and is nestled within 500 acres of the western portion of the Great Swamp Basin of the Passaic River. The Stable features a large indoor ring, three outdoor rings, daily Lead Line pony rides, and 18 miles of beautiful trails.

Woman Struck by Car in Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot Dies

Bridgewater, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after she was struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall Monday.

Marion Kelley, 62, was struck by a vehicle while walking in lot four near the Macy's merchandise pick up area at around 3:20 p.m. Monday.
