Union County College Foundation to Raise Funds for “Close the Gap” Campaign

The Union County College Foundation is hosting their 2nd Annual “Close the Gap” Cocktail Reception on July 19 in the Victor M. Richel Student Commons on the Cranford campus. This campaign supports the College’s strategic initiative to help shrink the ever growing achievement gap that exists for African American students and will also provide financial assistance to help African Americans complete their degree on time.

At the cocktail reception, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the honored guest Carl Banks, former New York Giants Super Bowl Champion and President of G-III Sports by Carl Banks. Assemblyman Jerry Green and Assemblyman Jamel Holley, members of the Host Committee, are significant advocates for the Close the Gap Campaign.

Thanks to the support of the Close the Gap fund, graduation rates for African American male students have more than doubled in the last two years. The success of turning our students into graduates can continue to happen with the financial support of local businesses and community members. The funding raised through this event will help the Union County College Foundation accelerate the pace of student success.

The opportunity exists for businesses and individuals to participate either as event sponsors or to purchase individual tickets.  If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation. For more information about supporting this year’s event, please call (908) 709-7505 or go to
