CRANFORD, NJ – Approximately 200 participants walked in Saturday’s 18th Annual Union County Red Ribbon Drug Prevention Walk in Nomahegan Park.

The walk was coordinated by Prevention Links and Wellness Coalition of Union County and hosted by former Governor Jim McGreevey.

“We all know what’s happening in our communities and our nation” McGreevey said. “I would argue that this scourge is more pernicious, more evil than any war we have fought as a nation.”

“We really want to raise awareness and also bring light to the fact that recovery is possible,” Morgan Thompson, director of recovery support services for Prevention Links, said. “There’s a real celebration of recovery happening today.”

The walk supports New Jersey’s first public Recovery High School, the Raymond J. Lesniak Experience, Strength, Hope Recovery High School.
