Hi Friends and Neighbors,

Here in New Jersey, we live on the battlegrounds of the Revolutionary War.  In the summer of 1776, George Washington’s troops were stationed in the Watchung Mountains—in fact, the Battle of Metuchen Meeting House was fought across many of the towns in District 21.

The Fourth of July is a holiday for celebration with fireworks and barbecues, but the holiday’s official name is Independence Day. Independence is a quality I value and one of the key things that I bring to this campaign. And yes, I come by my independent streak honestly. One of my ancestors, Benejah Ackley, fought in the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War (which the Americans decisively won).

Growing up, I learned how in 1775, British supply troops showed up in Benejah’s town to requisition supplies for the Siege of Boston.  But, the people of Maine weren’t willing to show loyalty to a king— particularly one who lived a life of grandeur and was out of touch with reality.

These people stood their ground and made history.

Right now, once again, New Jersey is the crossroads of the revolution. We are ready to fight for the people of New Jersey to put our state back on sound economic footing and provide the quality of life that makes us all love this state.

We are living history today. President Obama famously told us that if we didn’t like what we were seeing, we should grab a clipboard and start organizing. I’ve got plenty of clipboards in my campaign office, and I invite you to come over, grab one and give me a hand.

Wishing you a wonderful and safe holiday.
