Lenore Raphael Presents Ellington and More at Millburn Library

The Millburn Library is pleased to welcome back former Millburn resident and internationally renowned jazz pianist Lenore Raphael for an additional performance on Tue, April 24 at 7:00pm. Ms. Raphael will perform "Ellington and More" with acclaimed jazz musicians Doug MacDonald and Hilliard Greene.

Lenore Raphael is an internationally renowned jazz pianist, Steinway artist, radio host and jazz teacher, and has been described as one of the best pianists in the jazz mainstream today. Critics, jazz hosts, and jazz lovers all agree that Ms. Raphael is one of the most swinging mainstream pianists today. Influenced by Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and Bill Evans, she has taken these influences and created her own recognizable sound.

Doug MacDonald’s career as a jazz guitarist has taken him from Hawaii to Las Vegas, Los Angeles to Manhattan, and to Spain, Finland, Estonia, and the UK. Playing in clubs, concert halls and recording studios, Doug has been a featured soloist, as well as an accompanist for some of the greatest jazz luminaries of our time.

Hilliard Greene has been studying music for more than 30 years and has been playing professionally over twenty. He performs widely in the New York City area: recitals, nightclubs, concert halls (including Carnegie Hall), recording studios, radio and television. Greene performed and recorded with Jimmy Scott for 20+ years, serving as his Musical Director from 1995 to 2013. Greene was also Cecil Taylor’s Concert Master for his group “Phtongos”. He was in residence at Minton’s a.k.a. legendary Minton’s Playhouse as the house bassist. The Millburn Free Public Library is very pleased to welcome these amazing jazz musicians to our library for this performance.

The program is free to all and is appropriate for adults and families. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Millburn Library. The Millburn Library is located at 200 Glen Ave., Millburn, NJ 07041 and can be reached at 973-376-1006.
