SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Starting next month, the Springfield Recreation Department will be partnering with local company Boxcar to bring three drive-in movies to town.
On Wednesday, July 8; Thursday, July 23; and Thursday, August 13, the parking lot at the Springfield Community Pool will be transformed into a socially-distant outdoor movie theater, with a big screen, FM audio transmission, and food delivery. Movie titles, screening times, and reservation fees will be announced soon.
Each movie will have limited spots available that are first-come first-served and subject to advance reservation only through Boxcar's service.
In addition, Boxcar will also be partnering with local restaurants to offer pre-ordered food and drinks delivered directly to viewers cars. Moviegoers must remain in their cars for the duration of the event, and no lawn chairs or blankets are allowed. Residents are encouraged to attend with only members of their household in their car.
To receive details and payment information, interested Springfield residents must sign up with Boxcar at https://www.boxcarapp.com/springfield-movies.
Boxcar is a Chatham-based integrated commuting company that specializes in on-demand train station parking, luxury motor coach service to Manhattan, grocery delivery, drive-in movies, car detailing, landscaping, and outdoor pools.
