SPRINGFIELD, NJ — More than 200 Springfield residents attended the second of three drive-in summer movies held at the Springfield Municipal Pool lot this past Tuesday, following the event's postponement due to thunderstorms.
The movies this summer are sponsored by the Springfield Recreation Department and produced by Boxcar and Premiere Productions.
During the movie, families had dinner delivered directly to their cars via advance purchase from the Boxcar app courtesy of local restaurant partners TD Pizza, Super Stuffed Burgers, and Alen’s Deli & Catering. Complimentary goody bags were prepared and distributed by Mike Scalera and staff of Mike Scalera State Farm Insurance of Springfield.
After remarks by Mayor Chris Capodice, the movie began promptly at dusk. Parking lot preparation, logistical assistance, supplemental lighting, and medical stand-by support was provided by the Springfield Auxiliary Police, Office of Emergency Management, First Aid Squad, Department of Public Works, and Recreation Department.
One last summer drive-in movie will be shown on Thursday, August 13, 2020. The movie title, screening time, food options, and ticket fees will be announced by Boxcar a week prior to the movie. In order to receive details and payment information, interested Springfield residents must sign up with Boxcar at https://www.boxcarapp.com/springfield-movies.
The final summer movie will have limited spots available that are sold on a first-come first-served basis. Questions? Contact the Springfield Recreation Department at (973) 912-2227 or email@example.com.
