SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Earlier this month, the township provided updates on several development projects in town. They are as follows:
The former Lyons Building site, under the control of Morris & Center LLC & Springfield Center Urban Renewal Corp has finished demolition. The developers are in the process of cleaning up the site.
According to the township, Morris and Center LLC was in front of the Planning Board for Final Site Plan in November and plan to return in to finish their testimony in early Jan. 2020. Township Officials are working closely with the developer to fine tune the details.
The SPDSAIL LLC development, located at the intersection of Morris Avenue and Church Mall continues as well. The demolition of the existing building was completed earlier this year. Foundation excavation, sewer lateral construction and utility pole relocations have also been performed.
The former Saks Property was brought in front of the planning board in Sept. 2019. It was approved for a mixed-use residential / commercial development. The proposed project will include 47 townhomes and 223 apartment units. It will also include 5,215 square feet of retail space.
Developers are working with Township Officials to move forward on that project in 2020.
Finally, construction continues at the Wawa site up Morris Turnpike. In addition to construction, a traffic light has been added on the corner of Cleveland and Morris. The store is slated to open in 2020.
