SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Ghosts, ghouls and spooks of all shapes and sizes will make their appearance at a pair of Halloween events taking place in town on Sunday.

At the Chisholm Community Center, the Springfield Recreation Department will hold its annual  Halloween Spooktacular.

Registration and judging for the costume contest will begin at 12:30 p.m. From 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. children will have the chance to participate in crafts, activities and more. Finally, the judging results will be announced 1:30 p.m., and before the day is through, there will be one final activity, a kids in motion Halloween concert.

The event is sponsored by the chamber of commerce and the municipal alliance.

At the same time, across the street at Veteran's Park, Temple Sha'arey Shalom will be hosting a doggy costume contest. Prizes will be given out in several categories including scariest costume, funniest costume and most creative costume.

Registration is $10, and refreshments will be served.

At press time, there is no plan to cancel or postpone the dog costume contest should the weather be inclement.
