SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In an announcement yesterday afternoon, Springfield Mayor Chris Capodice said that playgrounds across the township would be reopening today.

"By tomorrow morning, the caution tape will be gone and playground equipment sprayed with disinfectant in all 12 parks," Capodice said in his post. "Our DPW will be performing regular cleaning once a week, on Wednesdays, weather permitting."

The move comes as Springfield and the rest of the state prepare to move forward to re-opening. At the same time, a slight spike in COVID cases statewide is threatening to derail any potential recovery and reopening effort.
