SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In a ceremony late last month in Atlantic City, the Springfield Recreation Department was presented with a pair of awards for design and programming in the past year.
The department won the Excellence in Design Award for the Springfield Community Pool and the Excellence in Visual & Cultural Arts Programming Award for Springfield’s Pride Month Event. The awards were presented at the New Jersey Recreation and Park Association (NJRPA) Annual Awards Dinner.
The Springfield Community Pool project involved the renovation of the entrance area at the pool. The 8,900 square foot building featured a number of new amenities and services, and allowed for a number of uses throughout the year.
On June 5, 2019, Springfield hosted its inaugural Pride Month Event. The Rec Department was awarded for their work in planning and pulling off the event in under a month's time.
According to the post on the township's website, the purpose of the NJRPA Awards Program is to honor and identify dedicated leaders, employees, and volunteers in the field of Parks and Recreation, and to recognize the State’s outstanding Recreation and Park agencies for excellence in programming, publicity and facility design.
The goal of the Awards Program is to focus state attention on the achievement of park and recreation agencies, to recognize the continuing efforts of staff and volunteers, and to acknowledge support extended by member agencies.
