SPRINGFIELD, NJ - Ahead of the annual Springfield Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival and Car Show taking place in just a few weeks, the town is gearing up for the return of a slightly newer tradition, the Salute to Veterans 5k race.

And as with any other running race, the Streets of Springfield will need to be closed down temporarily in order to allow the runners safe access to the course.

As a result, Springfield will look to close Mountain Avenue northbound from Shunpike Road to Morris Avenue and Meisel Avenue southbound from Linden Avenue to Milltown Road  between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

While the opposite directions of both streets are scheduled to be open, they may be temporarily closed during the hour to let large groups of runners pass through safely.

Should the event be rained out, the race and festival will take place on Oct. 20.
