On Dec. 4, the Township of Springfield and the Springfield Recreation Department will hold the holiday celebration on the lawn of Town Hall from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Winter Wonderland Band and the Daytones will both play, as the Christmas Tree is lit around 7:00 p.m.
Along with the tree, attendees will be treated to a petting zoo, horse and carriage rides, a Candy Land obstacle course for the youngsters, pictures with Santa, a human-sized snow globe photo booth treats, hot pretzels and warm drinks. Additionally, performers will be wandering around, including toy soldiers on stilts Olaf the snowman from Frozen.
In the spirit of giving usually associated with this time of year, Holy Cross Lutheran Church will be on hand holding a donation drive to collect non-perishable food, gently-used coats and other winter accessories as well as socks and gently used towels. Boys Scouts troop 73 will also be on hand selling wreaths and grave blankets.
The event will be held on the lawn in front of the Springfield Municipal Building, as well as north and south Trivett Ave.
