SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Now into the second week with no new cases or deaths, the following is the latest information on COVID-19 cases in Springfield, Union County and stare-wide throughout New Jersey.

The information was released by Springfield Mayor Christopher Capodice in an evening email:

As of yesterday's update, Springfield's total remained at 213 positive tests and 16 deaths.

Overall, Union County had 73 new cases of COVID-19, and 15 new deaths, totaling 13,984 positive tests and 852 deaths. The State of New Jersey had 1,394 new cases of COVID-19 and 139 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 138,532 positive tests, and 9,225 COVID-19 related deaths.

State-wide, yesterday afternoon's update also yeilded the following data:

  • 4,308 total hospitalizations
  • 1,338 in critical/intensive care
  • 994 on ventilators
  • 439 discharges
