With elections coming up on Nov. 6, 2018, TAPinto Springfield reached out to all four candidates running for the Springfield Board of Education and asked them for a short statement about their candidacies. Below is candidate Jason Silberfein's response:

I am an active member of the Springfield community and believe that running for the Board of Education is an important civic duty.  Residents want our district to achieve at the highest levels among New Jersey’s public schools. Now is an important time for the Board as it continues to provide leadership in evaluating the superintendent, reviewing policies, developing goals and a district vision. This must be accomplished on budget, in partnership with and have input from the constituents that are reflective of the community’s needs.

It is my hope that as a member of the board I can help our district achieve its vision, including balancing innovation with research-based practices, maintaining a fiduciary responsibility to the town through smart, and responsible fiscal practices and fostering a stronger sense of partnership with the community.

I hope everyone will come out to vote and wish all the candidates the best of luck.
