SPRINGFIELD NJ - This upcoming Tuesday. On Tuesday, a major voting drive will take place across the entire United States, when Americans celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a  50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November.

In Springfield, that campaign will take the form of a voter registration drive at the Springfield Public Library, as The League of Women Voters of the Union Area will register voters from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, is dedicated to ensuring that all eligible voters – including first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, minorities, the elderly and low-income Americans – have the opportunity and the information to exercise their right to vote.

The group believes that with elections happening this fall, every eligible American voter should exercise his or her right to be heard at the ballot box this year and next.

To learn more about the effort, or to find a listing of all the voter registration events across the country, visit the group's website at www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org.

Founded in 2012, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote. More than two million Americans have registered to vote on this day since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day.
