SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Yesterday afternoon, as part of the regular announcements from the Township of Springfield, mayor Chris Capodice announced a major milestone in the fight against COVID-19.

"As of this email Springfield had NO NEW cases of COVID-19, since the start of this pandemic, keeping our total at 213 positive tests and 16 deaths," Capodice said in his email blast.

In addition to the reported totals from Springfield, Union County had 222 new cases of COVID-19, and 37 new deaths, totaling 12,578 positive tests and 690 deaths. Overall, the State of New Jersey currently has 2,633 new cases of COVID-19 and 460 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 118,652 positive tests, and 7,228 COVID-19 related deaths.
