SPRINGFIELD, NJ — As part of a roadwork project, Union County will be performing milling and paving on Mountain Avenue from Briar Hill Circle to Caldwell Place, resulting in road closures for the next several days.

The responsibility of paving Mountain Avenue falls to the county, because the street is a county roadway. County officials are anticipating that the work will take approximately nine days to complete, weather permitting.

As a result of the work, Springfield Mayor Chris Capodice posted an email update this morning announcing that for the duration of the project, a full road closure will be necessary.

During the paving process, Mountain Avenue will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services will be allowed as much as possible.

Emergency Vehicles will be allowed though the construction zone. According to Capodice, parking will be prohibited during the milling and paving operation. Residents with any questions about the project may call the Union County Traffic Bureau at 908-789-6011.
