SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In an update yesterday afternoon Springfield Mayor Chris Capodice announced the death of four more Springfield residents from COVID-19.

"It is with great sadness that we report that four residents have passed within the last few days," Capodice said. The victims were three males and one female, all in their late 80s and 90s with significant underlying health conditions.

As of yesterday's message, Springfield had four new cases of COVID-19, and three new deaths, totaling 213 positive tests and 16 deaths.

Union County had 196 new cases of COVID-19, and 27 new deaths, totaling 12,380 positive tests and 653 deaths.

The State of New Jersey had 2,481 new cases of COVID-19 and 329 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 116,264 positive tests, and 6,770 COVID-19 related deaths.
