SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In a message yesterday afternoon, Springfield mayor Chris Capodice updated residents on the latest local, county and state data for coronavirus cases.
As of Sunday's update, Springfield had three new cases of COVID-19, totaling 24 positive tests and 1 death. Union County had 71 new cases of COVID-19, totaling 896 positive tests and 11 deaths. Overall, the State of New Jersey had 2,260 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 13,386 positive tests, and 161 COVID-19 related deaths.
Elsewhere in local government, due to COVID-19 and for everyone’s safety, the March 31, 2020 Tax Sale has been postponed. Residents with any questions, should call the tax collector at (973) 912-2205.
Additionally, the annual children's and young adult book sale has also been postponed by the Friends of the Springfield Public Library to a future date.
