SPRINGFIELD, NJ — In the latest update from the Township of Springfield, Mayor Chris Capodice shared the latest figures on cases in Springfield. Capodice's letter is below:

As of this message, Springfield had 7 new cases of COVID-19, totaling 112 positive tests and 3 deaths. Union County has 360 new cases of COVID-19, and 20 new deaths, totaling 5,203 positive tests and 145 deaths. The State of New Jersey currently has 3,748 new cases of COVID-19 and 198 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 51,027 positive tests, and 1,700 COVID-19 related deaths.

There are 7,363 cases that are currently hospitalized, 1,523 are in intensive care, 1,551 are on ventilators, and over the past 24 hours, 471 patients were discharged and returned home.

According to modeling from the state’s Innovation Center, the peak of the state’s COVID-19 outbreak could arrive within two to three days, resulting in 14,400 hospitalizations and 2,880 critical care cases.
