SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Yesterday afternoon, Springfield Mayor Chris Capodice released an updated count of the number of COVID-19 cases in Springfield, Union County and New Jersey.

The update read:

As of this message, Springfield had 7 new cases of COVID-19, totalling 119 positive tests and 3 deaths. Union County has 375 new cases of COVID-19, and 16 new deaths, totaling 5,575 positive tests and 161 deaths. The State of New Jersey currently has 3,627 new cases of COVID-19 and 233 new deaths, bringing the state total number to 54,588 positive tests, and 1,932 COVID-19 related deaths.

  • 105,611 total patients have been tested for COVID-19 with a positivity rate of 44.2%

  • As of 10 p.m. last night there were 7,570 patients hospitalized due to COVID-19.

    • 1,663 patients are on ventilators.

    • There were also 682 COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours.

There are no consistent and/or accurate recovery numbers to report at this time.
