SPRINGFIELD, NJ - At Tuesday's township committee meeting, two new relief crossing guards were hired by the township, which ratified and confirmed the appointments.

Robert Deronde and Mary Rogers were both approved after passing a background check and an interview process. Deronde and Rogers were recommended for the position by Springfield Police Seargent Ryan Westover and Chief John Cook.

As relief crossing guards, both Deronde and Rogers will work no more than 20 hours per week. The positions do not entitle them to holiday or personal leave and benefits (including medical). The only exemption would be the potential accrual of sick leave, according to the resolution.
