SPRINGFIELD, NJ — After a special session of the Springfield Township Committee late last month, where authorization of agreement between the township and the Summit Area YMCA for pool operation was reached, the process continues to take more time, as the Y reviews its side of the agreement.
In an update to township residents, Springfield mayor Chris Capodice provided the latest update from the Y, and announced that as more information was made availble, it would be forthcoming.
"As you are aware, the Township authorized entering into an agreement with the Summit Y during a Special Meeting of the Township Committee on Monday, June 29th," Capodice said in his statement. "Since that meeting, the Summit Y has undertaken a review of several terms of the proposed arrangement to ensure that it satisfies their purposes.
"The Township continues to accommodate the YMCA’s review and remains optimistic and prepared to execute the agreement in an effort to bring Pool and Camp recreational opportunities to the Township. As soon as the Summit Y approves of the form of agreement, as a whole, we will update you accordingly."
