SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The following is the Springfield Police blotter for the second half of the month of June:
June 18 – A 19-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.
June 19 – A 43-year-old Summit man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.
June 22 – Officers were detailed to a Route 22 restaurant on a report of a fight in progress involving a man with a bat. Upon arrival, a vehicle matching the description of the assailant’s was observed leaving the parking lot of the establishment.
The suspect vehicle was stopped on Route 22. The driver, a 23-year-old Irvington man, fled the scene on foot. The man was apprehended by Patrol Officers in a nearby wooded area and was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and resisting arrest.
June 24 – Officers were detailed to a Morris Avenue business on a report of employee theft. A 37-year-old Port Reading woman was arrested and charged with theft by deception.
June 26 – A 19-year-old Union man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, and issued a summons for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.
June 28 – Detective Bureau personnel charged a 41-year-old Kearny man with theft of movable property. The charge was the culmination of a follow-up investigation of a theft from a Morris Avenue business reported on June 5, 2019.
June 29 – Two 18-year old Union men were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Washington Avenue.
Officers made additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Union and Seaside Park.
