SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The following is the Springfield Police Department Blotter for the second half of February:

Feb 17 – A 49-year-old Springfield woman was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

Feb 18 – A 21-year-old Union woman was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

Feb 19 – An Officer on routine patrol on Route 22 effected a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation. An investigation at the scene resulted in the arrest of both occupants. The driver, a 20-year-old Elizabeth woman, was charged with possession of a stun gun, underage possession of alcohol, and possession of counterfeit government identification. The passenger, a 19-year-old woman also from Elizabeth, was charged with possession of marijuana.

Feb 20 – An investigation at the scene of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22 resulted in the arrest of three occupants. The driver, a 21-year-old Newark man, and two 20-year-old East Orange men were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of prescription legend drugs with intent to distribute, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. The driver was additionally charged with possession of a handgun.

Feb 20 – In November of 2019, the Detective Bureau received a report of a fraudulently purchased vehicle from a dealership on Route 22. As a result of a follow-up investigation, a 38-year-old Brooklyn man was charged with theft by deception, use of a fraudulent government ID, and forgery.

Feb 21 –A 43-year-old New Haven, CT man was charged with theft by deception, use of a fraudulent government ID, and forgery. The charges were the culmination of a Detective Bureau investigation of a fraudulent purchase of a vehicle from a Route 22 auto dealership in January of 2020.

Feb 22 – Officers were detailed to a Route 22 business on a report of shoplifter who had fled the scene. The suspect, a 47-year-old Newark man, was located on Route 22 in Union and was arrested and charged with theft.

Feb 26 – A 56-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with theft from a Morris Avenue business.

Feb 26 – In May of 2019, police received a report of a fraudulent purchase from a Route 22 business. An 18-year-old Irvington man was charged with theft as a result of a follow-up investigation by the Detective Bureau.

Feb 28 – A 32-year-old Newark woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after the vehicle she was operating was observed driving north in the southbound lane of Springfield Avenue.

Officers made additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Hudson County, South Plainfield, and Springfield.
