SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The following is the police blotter for the second half of May;
On May 18, a 19-year-old East Orange man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and THC oil as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
On May 19, a 35-year-old Plainfield woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
On May 22, a 22-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with theft of movable property. The arrest was the culmination of a Detective Bureau investigation of a theft from a Morris Avenue business reported on February 1, 2019.
Also on May 22, an Officer on routine patrol on Route 22 West effected a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle with an equipment violation. An on-scene investigation led to the arrest of a passenger in the vehicle. The passenger, a 19-year-old Plainfield man, was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and multiple outstanding warrants out of Fanwood and Plainfield. The vehicle operator was issued a summons for the equipment violation.
On May 24, officers were dispatched to the area of Springfield Avenue on a report of a driver asleep at the wheel of a vehicle in the roadway. A 48-year-old South Orange man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Also on May 24, a 31-year-old Maplewood man was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft of movable property, theft of credit cards, and use of stolen credit cards. The charges were the result of an investigation by the Detective Bureau of a motor vehicle burglary that occurred on April 30 in a parking lot on Morris Avenue.
And on May 30, a 33-year-old Newark woman was arrested and charged with failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to Police, and an outstanding warrant out of Parsippany-Troy Hills as a result of an investigation by an Officer on routine patrol on Morris Avenue.
Officers made 5 additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Springfield, West Orange, Union and Edison.
