SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The following is the Springfield Police Department blotter for the first half of the month of December:
Dec 2 — Officers were detailed to a Morris Avenue business on a report of an unruly customer. Upon arrival, Officers observed broken glass in the entrance door to the building. A 31-year-old Summit man was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.
Dec 5 — A 55-year-old Randolph man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Shunpike Road.
Dec 7 — An Officer on routine patrol on Route 22 observed a vehicle driving west with heavy front-end damage. The Officer effected a motor vehicle stop and observed both front tires were flat and the airbags had been deployed. The driver, a 65-year-old Plainfield man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Dec 9 — A 28-year-old Union man was arrested and charged with failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to police as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.
Dec 10 — Officers were detailed to a Morris Avenue business on a report of shoplifting. A member of the Detective Bureau in the area was able to stop a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description. An investigation at the scene lead to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of two suspects. A 38-year-old Newark woman was arrested and charged with theft of movable property, as well as outstanding warrants out of Newark. The second suspect, a 34-year-old woman also from Newark, was arrested and charged with theft, hindering apprehension, criminal mischief, and outstanding warrants of Newark.
Dec 14 — An 18-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Vista Way.
Officers made additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Plainfield and Berkeley Heights.
