SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The following is the police blotter for the second half of the month of January:

Jan 17 – A 46-year-old East Orange woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

Jan 22 – Officers were detailed to a Morris Turnpike business on a report of a shoplifter. A 41-year-old Rockaway man was arrested and charged with theft.

Jan 23 – Officers were dispatched to Mountain Avenue of a report of a suspicious male. The suspect, a 55-year-old Springfield man, was arrested after he was found to have two outstanding Springfield warrants, and was in possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Jan 24 – A 26-year-old Kenilworth woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence when an Officer on routine patrol found her asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with the engine running in a parking lot on Morris Avenue.

Jan 24 – Officers were dispatched to a Morris Avenue business on a report of a shoplifter who had fled the store on foot. A member of the Detective Bureau located the suspect on Springfield Avenue in Union. The suspect, a 28-year-old Irvington man, was arrested and charged with theft, possession of an anti-shoplifting counter measure device, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia, as well as an outstanding warrant out of Irvington.

Jan 26 – A 25-year-old Maplewood man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

Jan 26 – A 32-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after he was observed by a Patrol Officer driving west in the eastbound lanes of Route 22.

Jan 29 – A 35-year-old North Bergen man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

Jan 31 – A 24-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of an investigation at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Mountain Avenue.

Officers made additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Burlington, Irvington, Union, Robbinsville, Newark, Springfield, and Columbia.
