SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The following is the police blotter for the second half of September:
Sept 16 – Officers were dispatched to a Mountain Avenue business on a report of a stolen credit card used to place an order. When the customer arrived to pick up his items, he was detained by police at the scene. The suspect, a 29-year-old Union man, was arrested and charged with theft of a credit card, use of a stolen credit card, and hindering apprehension, as well as an outstanding warrant out of East Orange.
Sept 23 – After receiving a report from an alert Township employee of possible theft of packages in the area of Fernhill Road, a Detective observed a man remove a package that had been delivered to a Jefferson Terrace residence. When the suspect was stopped for questioning, he fled the scene with the package. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect, a 25-year-old Bronx, New York man, was apprehended and arrested and charged with theft of movable property and resisting arrest. The vehicle the suspect was traveling in also left the scene. That vehicle was stopped by responding officers on Mountain Avenue, and the driver, a 28-year-old Richmond Hill, New York man, was arrested and charged with theft, and possession of marijuana.
Sept 25 – Officers were detailed to a Morris Turnpike business on a report of shoplifting. The suspect, a 43-year-old Newark man, was arrested and charged with theft of movable property, as well as multiple outstanding warrants out of Springfield.
Sept 27 – A 41-year-old Roselle Park man was arrested on outstanding warrants out of Roselle Park as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
