SPRINGFIELD, NJ — The following is the Springfield Police Department blotter for the first half of March:
March 1 – A 29-year-old Avenel woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
March 5 – An Officer effected a motor vehicle stop on Tooker Avenue. The driver, a 30-year-old Newark man, was issued multiple summonses including driving with a suspended license, fictitious plates, and suspended registration. The vehicle was impounded. A follow-up investigation by the Detective Bureau found the temporary license plate on the vehicle to be fraudulent, and charged the suspect with motor vehicle fraud and forgery.
March 6 – A 34-year-old Elizabeth woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Mountainside as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
March 8 – An Officer on routine patrol observed a driver asleep at the wheel in the intersection of Morris and Maple Avenue. The operator, a 28-year-old Orange man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
March 10 – A 22-year-old Plainfield man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana as well as an outstanding warrant out of North Plainfield as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.
March 11 – A 34-year-old Elizabeth woman was arrested and charged with theft after she was observed shoplifting from a Morris Avenue business.
March 11 – Officers were detailed to the area of Troy Drive on a report of an idling vehicle. The driver, a 22-year-old Springfield resident, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
March 13 – A 44-year-old Plainfield man was charged with two counts of fraud as a result of a Detective Bureau investigation of a report of bad checks issued to a Springfield business owner in December of 2019.
