The following is the Springfield Police Blotter from Mid-August through Mid-September:

Aug. 18 – While on routine patrol on Route 22, an Officer effected a motor vehicle stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle operator, a 47-year-old Jersey City man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, possession of cocaine, and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Aug. 20 – Officers were detailed to a Route 22 business on a report of shoplifting in progress. Upon arrival, one suspect, a 29-year-old Huntington, New York woman, was located inside the store and was arrested and charged with theft, possession of an anti-shoplifting counter measure device, possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of THC oil, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Two additional suspects were located in the parking lot. A 35-year-old Hampton Bays, New York woman was arrested and charged with theft, possession of an anti-shoplifting counter measure device, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of narcotics paraphernalia, as well as an outstanding warrant out of Monmouth County. A 24-year-old Brentwood, New York man was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

Aug. 27 – A 20-year-old Elizabeth man was arrested and charged with possession of THC oil, and possession of marijuana as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

Aug. 28 – An Officer on routine patrol observed an individual who appeared to be using narcotics on Mountain Avenue. The suspect, a 45-year-old South Orange man, was arrested and charged with failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to police, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Aug. 28 – A Sergeant on patrol in the area of Milltown Road effected a motor vehicle stop on a truck that exceeded the weight limit for that roadway. Further investigation revealed the passenger, a 25-year-old Halethorpe, Maryland man, was a fugitive of justice and had a no-bail warrant out of Broward County, Florida. He was additionally charged with possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia.

Aug. 29 – A 48-year-old Irvington man was arrested and charged with theft and possession of an anti-shoplifting counter measure device as a result of an investigation of suspicious activity on Morris Avenue. A second suspect, a 50-year-old Newark man, was found to have a United States Marshal’s no bail warrant and was additionally charged with possession of narcotics paraphernalia and failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to police.

Aug. 30 – A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested charged as a fugitive from justice due to an outstanding warrant out of Readington, Pennsylvania as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue.

Aug. 30 – A 43-year-old Springfield man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Millburn Avenue.

Sept. 1 – An Officer on patrol effected a motor vehicle stop after observing a motorist traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Route 22. The vehicle operator, a 32-year-old Stamford, CT man, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, as well as numerous motor vehicle violations including reckless driving, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and fictitious plates.

Sept. 14 – A 45-year-old Irvington man was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence, and refusal to submit to a breath test as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 22.

Officers made additional arrests on outstanding warrants out of Springfield, Linden, Union, and Hillside.
