SPRINGFIELD, NJ - A police stop on Mountain Avenue resulted in the arrest of two alleged suspects Monday afternoon.

Multiple Springfield Police vehicles were on the scene when TAPInto Springfield arrived. Additionally, one suspect was being booked on scene at that time for a sperate drug charge.

"This guy got stopped and he's got marijuana in plain sight," Springfield Police Lt. Damon Quirk said. "So he's under arrest and we're gonna impound the car, pending the investigation."

Lt. Quirk also said that the police were investigating the suspect in connection with a potential package theft, although he could not divulge more than that, as it is an ongoing investigation.

He also confirmed that there was a second suspect involved who was apprehended by the police.

"Another guy got out [of the car] and ran," he added. "So he was caught by the golf course. So it's still unfolding."

At this time, no further information is being released by the department. All suspects arrested and charged by the police are viewed as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
