SPRINGFIELD, NJ — It was a lot closer than the last game they played, but the Bulldogs still found a way to win.

Having battled through a scoreless first half against Arthur L. Johnson, Dillon Nelson put the Bulldogs up for good. In the 55th minute, Nelson punched a shot through a scrum of players on both teams and over the head of the Crusaders' goaltender for a 1-0 lead.

While Johnson would challenge with some close shots late, they were unable to find the equalizer. With the win, Dayton moves above .500 again on the season.

Speaking with TAPinto after the game, Head Coach Felix Fabiano spoke about the team's performance

"We did it in a nice fashion, playing nice and playing well," Fabiano said. "In the second half, we played without five starters...we tried all season long to develop the bench and usually they don't get in that much, but they were ready."

Fabano also said that should the team finish with a winning record, it would be the 20th consecutive season that the Dayton boys had accomplished that feat.

Nelson also spoke with TAPinto as well. He broke down the goal, saying how it had fallen at his feet after a miscommunication, and he blasted it home for the win. Nelson also said that it was great to be able to shut Johnson down after grabbing a lead.

"[It's] very rewarding and relieving,"Nelson said. "Because we forced simple mistakes, and we didn't let them score."

Dayton is back in action tonight for Senior Night at the turf field versus Roselle Catholic. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
