SPRINGFIELD, NJ — After a heart-breaking loss at Linden Thursday, the Dayton girls basketball team responded with a convincing win on Saturday.
Senior Michelle Bellino scored a team-high 12 points, leading nine players in scoring, to propel Dayton to a 46-25 victory over neighbor Union in Springfield Saturday.
Dayton took control early with back-to-back 16-points quarters en route to a 32-11 halftime lead.
Senior Haeley Santos added eight points and junior Aiyona Wood posted seven points with a team-high 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-9), which has won two of its last three games, is 3-3 over its last six and improved to 2-6 in the Union County Conference.
The Bulldogs conclude its two-game home stand on Tuesday as Kent Place visits with first tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
