GLEN RIDGE, NJ — The Dayton girls basketball team saw its season end Monday.
Senior Michelle Bellino posted a double-double in her final high school game with 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks to pace 14th-seeded Dayton in a 41-23 loss to third-seeded Glen Ridge in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 1 tournament in Glen Ridge Monday.
Bellino ended her senior season with 282 points, 218 rebounds, 50 steals, 47 assists and 45 blocks.
Glen Ridge (12-13) advanced to Wednesday’s quarterfinals and will host sixth-seeded Shabazz at 7 p.m.
Senior Haleigh Pine scored 11 points with six steals, senior Sarah Cullinan added 10 points with six steals, five rebounds and five assists and sophomore Amayah Melbourne posted 14 rebounds and five steals to lead Glen Ridge, which has won three of its last five games.
Glen Ridge led 18-9 at halftime and took control with a 13-4 third quarter to secure the win.
Junior Aiyona Wood posted five points with eight rebounds and two blocks for the Bulldogs (9-17), which saw its two-game win streak snapped to end its season.
Other Bulldog seniors who played their last game were Casey Janker, Haeley Santos and Janna Wohl.
