LINDEN, NJ — Sophomore Azani McCray scored the game-winner with five seconds left in regulation to lift Linden to a 40-39 victory over Dayton in Linden Thursday.

Junior Kamila Torres scored a team-high 14 points and senior Faith Reddick added 11 points with five rebounds, four assists, and four steals for the Tigers (6-10), which saw its three-game losing streak snapped and won for just the second time in its last nine games.

Senior Michelle Bellino posted a double-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks and senior Haeley Santos added eight points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists to lead the way for Dayton (4-9), which has lost three of its last four games.

The Bulldogs used an 11-4 third quarter to take a 31-30 lead after three quarters and were edged in the fourth quarter, 10-8, on McCray’s late-game heroics.

Dayton upended Linden at home, 54-29, on Jan. 9 as Bellino posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and five steals in the win.

The Bulldogs begin a two-game homestand Saturday as they host neighbor Union at 1 p.m. and Kent Place on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
