SPRINGFIELD, NJ - It was a close, hard-fought game, but the Jonathan Dayton Girls Soccer team came up just short in a 1-0 loss, their final game before states.

Dayton faced Point Pleasant Beach in the loss. The game was tied until late in the second half, when midfielder Elise Cirvelli punched home the winning score.

"We had our opportunities, and we just didn't convert on it," Head coach Matt Lynch said post game. "Point Pleasant, they had an opportunity, and they did. So that's soccer."

Lynch also broke down his message for the team heading into the state playoffs.

"I told them that we had a good regular season," he added. "We played in a very competitive division, we had some very close games, and we're ready to go."

Dayton will be back in action Monday for their first NJSIAA game against Wood Ridge.
