Springfield’s Dayton Girls Track Competes Well at Valley Division UCC Meet

BERKLEY HEIGHTS, NJ -  Coach Greg Salmon said of Dayton’s girl track team performance, “We had some very good individual results at the Girls Valley Division Union County Conference (UCC) Championship Meet.”

Specifically, junior Caitlynn McTernan took fourth in the long jump, third in the javelin with a new personal best of 101 feet five inches, third in the triple jump, and won the high jump with a jump of four feet ten inches.

Junior Destini Stewart took sixth in the long jump, fourth in the high jump, and took second in the triple jump.

Freshman Abbey Hochreiner placed third in the mile running five minutes and 35 seconds, and she took third place in the two-mile.

Sophomore Catriona Corbett took sixth in the two-mile.  Sophomore Kyla Greene placed sixth in the 100 meter dash, and fifth in the long jump.

Cymantha Blackmon took second in the shot put with a new personal best of 34 feet 4.5 inches and took third in the discus throw.

Junior Erica Carrie and Sophomore Lily Dvorchik set personal bests in the 800-meter run, both finishing in 2:35.

Junior Maura Duffy took sixth place in the 100 meter high hurdles.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Erica Carrie, Kyla Greene, Sheila Flood, and Sophie Pleva took third, running their best this season of 4:29.

Summing it up, the coach said, “Overall, the team competed very well against a pool of very tough athletes from other schools.
