Springfield’s Dayton Tennis Bounces Back with Win over Johnson

SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The bad weather was on the way and Dayton was coming off a loss in the quarterfinals of the sectional tournament to Glen Ridge.  Still, the Bulldogs managed to complete their match with A.L. Johnson of Clark edging the Crusaders 3-2.

Dayton’s senior Colin McCormack played court one and beat Johnson’s senior Matthew Vigliotti 8-5.

On court two was Dayton’s junior Julien Heurteux facing the Crusaders’ senior Logan Guarino.  Guarino won 8-3.

Playing on court three for the Bulldogs was sophomore Russell Cook and he played Johnson’s senior George Visconti who won the match 8-0.

Both Dayton doubles teams won their matches.

On the first doubles court were sophomores Matt Mlawski and Brandon Wohl.  They beat Johnson’s senior Chris Cundari and sophomore Robert Lukawkewicz 8-1.

The second doubles court featured Dayton’s senior Adam Gelo and junior Ryan Salman against Johnson’s senior Brandon Laraway and senior Aarish Sadana.  The Bulldogs won 8-4.

The Bulldogs are 8-7 for the season and the Crusaders are 5-7.

Today, the Bulldogs travel to Scotch Plains for a 4:00 p.m. match against Union Catholic.
