STAFFORD, NJ - It's not too late to get involved in the annual cleanup of the Barnegat Bay. Last year, more than 4,500 volunteers cleaned trash in the inlet at the Barnegat Bay Clean Up Blitz.
Since Governor Chris Christie's action plan for Barnegat Bay was announced in 2010, six successful Blitz cleanups have been conducted, resulting in the collection of thousands of pounds of litter.
Last spring, volunteers collected about 1,200 bags of garbage and recycling materials. That was 250 cubic yards of debris filling eight dumpsters.
It is not too late to sign up for tomorrow's event.
